Beware donation scams & phishing emails related to the Japan quake

Unfortunately one of our employees received today what looks like a scam asking for donations for the Salvation Army relief fund.

The email contains the correct website for the Salvation Army:, but requests for donations to be arranged by replying directly to the email itself. The sender’s address does not appear to be a genuine Salvation Army email address which leads us to believe that this is a scam designed to take advantage of the situation.

If you would like to make an online donation to the Salvation Army or any other relief fund please make sure you do so directly from their legitimate website, please do not respond directly to any emails asking for donations. The Guardian has a more detailed page on how to make donations here.

Thanks, please pass this on & let us know if you see any other similar scams.
